The Optimist Club of Chilliwack was proud to sponsor and participate in the PROVINCIAL ENVIROTHON CHAMPIONSHIP held in Yarrow, BC on Saturday, May 3, 2014.
President Peter Holmes and Directors Everett Worth and LucyAnne Curuthers were judges for this annual competition that asks students to learn about ecology and their environment through specific topic areas: aquatic ecology, forest ecology, soils, and wildlife. Rounding out the education and the basis for the competition, is the study of the annual topic, a current environmental issue. In 2014, the issue is Sustainable Local Agriculture - Locally Grown.
